Kim Possible

This was one of the the kids' favorite things to do at Disney:

Here they are accepting their mission and Secret Agent status and receiving their Kimmunicator:

They've been sworn in and are now officially Spies (they look it, don't they):

Getting their first assignment:

Their mission is going to take them to Mexico:

Checking out one of their clues in the Mexico marketplace:

OK, funny bird story.  One of their clues was given by this talking bird. When the children arrived, there were a couple of older ladies there, staring at the bird.  One of them kept insisting that it could talk.  She kept trying to get the bird to speak.  The other lady wasn't buying any of it.   Well, our favorite secret agents pressed the secret key on their kimmunicator and the bird gave them their secret message.  The first lady looks at the other one and smugly says, "See, I told you it could talk."

Uh oh, the mission must be getting dangerous, Brett is biting her nails:

Mission solved!  Our Secret Agents are now posing as undercover as Mexicans:

They're very subtle in their pink shirts and sombreros, don't you think? :D

Ohana

Our absolute favorite restaurant of our entire Disney vacation (and this is unanimous) was:

It had the most amazing family buffet you can imagine.  We didn't take pictures of the food (because we were too busy eating it), but they brought around huge skewers of the tenderest food ever.  My mouth is watering just sitting here.  (Of course the fact that Jim and I are doing the Power 90 workout and are on a strict eating plan has nothing to do with that).

We did take photos while we were waiting for our reservation.  Here are my (soon to be) sister-in-law, Shannon, and I enjoying our fruity drinks:

Poppy and the girls:

During the meal they teach you a hula (complete with lei and all):

Not sure what Jim found so amusing (but he's guessing it was Jade twirling her hips):

The girls are concentrating very hard:

Emery and I are marching to the beat of our own (different) drummers:

Hawaiian Princess Brett:

Brett trying to cheer up grumpy Princess Indigo:

But Princess Jade is happy:

Finally getting happy:

Did I mention they had good food?  Yep, even the dessert:

Time to leave (don't forget all the leis):

Definitely recommended if you ever visit Disney World!

Pool Time

Swimming is always a highlight of our Florida vacations.  Here Brett is trying to explain to the girls that it is too cold for them to swim:

The older children all had a great time:

Hewitt put on a brave face despite the fact that he wasn't swimming:

Jade - not so brave a face:

We finally had a day warm enough for the littles to swim:

Water babies! :D

First Trip to the ER in 2010

If someone had asked me to wager who would be the first kid to need a trip to the ER, I would have guessed Jade. She's just a menace and into everything. LOL

But I would have guessed wrong.

I was making dinner yesterday and asked Brett to go cut me some chives from the herb garden. She went outside. A few minutes later I heard Indigo crying from outside. It wasn't the kind of cry that makes moms go running.

Moms, you know what I mean. There's the "I got hurt" cry where they come to you and you kiss the boo boo and make it better. And then there's the kind of cry that chills your blood and sends you running toward the source.

Well, this was just an average cry. I knew Brett was out there, so I figured she'd take care of it, and bring Indigo to me if she needed some Mommy kissing and snuggling.

Well, Brett did bring her to me. But unfortunately she brought her to me with a big piece of wood from the front porch stuck in her foot. Normally Jim is the splinter doctor around here, but he was at wrestling and this couldn't wait for him to get home since it was sticking 8 inches out of her foot. So I sat her down and went to pull it out. But first I felt to see how far into her foot it was - and it kept going and going. That thing was stuck 2-3 inches into her foot!!!

At this point, I got that queasy mom feeling and ran to the phone to call Jim to tell him to get his butt home. But of course he didn't answer. So I told Brett to grab everybody and buckle them in the car. Brett was thinking very clearly (yeah, Brett!) and suggested that I leave Hewitt and Jade home with her and just take Greyden with me. So we carefully buckled Indigo into her car seat and off we drove.

First I swung by our doctor's office - of course they were already closed. Then we went to wrestling practice. I walked in - Jim saw me, knew it wasn't good that I was there, and followed me out to the car. He quickly confirmed my diagnosis that this was a visit to the ER. So off we went.

The doctor numbed her foot and withdrew the splinter (it was really a piece of wood) and then washed it out thoroughly. Indigo was incredible, whimpered some, but was really good while he removed it. While he was cleaning it, she pronounced that it - tickled! "Really, Mom, it does." The doctor told her she was the best little girl he'd had in... a year! :) She also had to have 3 x-rays to make sure they got all of it and was sent home with antibiotics and pain reliever.

The funny part of the visit was when we were sitting in the waiting room talking with the other patients. They were asking about our children and I said, "I have three more children at home. I left Hewitt, Indigo, and Jade with Brett." Indigo who was snuggled on my lap pipes up and says, "No, Mom. You brought me with you, don't you remember?" Of course I do, sweetie, Mommy's just getting old.

I didn't have a camera with me. But jim snapped a picture of Indigo with his phone. Don't look if you're squeamish.

Update: this happened last week and Indigo is recovering well.  Her foot is very bruised, but she's not in pain anymore. :)

Wow, That Really Is Scary

Jim and I were in the living room talking with visitors when the boys started carrying in garbage bags of clothes and dumping them in the middle of the living room floor.

What the heck?...

Turns out our neighbors were generously sharing a bunch of hand-me-downs with us and were dumping them over the fence. Our boys were retrieving them and dumping them in my living room.

No problem, we were leaving to give them a tour of the soap room anyway. So out we went.

A little while later, Brett went to show them the festival room and I heard a strange sound, immediately followed by Brett yelling, "Oh my goodness! You scared me!" I turned the corner to find this:

(The strange sound was of course a roar).

My reaction made her laugh:

She stopped laughing once she remembered she was a scary lion:

We all told her she was really scary. But when we saw this:

We decided, now THAT is REALLY scary.

(PS - Was it Tony the Tiger that wore sunglasses? I can't remember.)
