Since Charlestown High School was in the sectional tournament at home, and we didn't have a soap show scheduled, we decided to take the children to the game.
The children were enthralled and so excited to be there. But they also said some really funny things.
Indigo watched the two teams warming up on field. She looked at one team. Then she looked at the other. Then she looked at one team. Then the other. Finally she looked at me and pointed to the visiting team.
Indigo: "Mom, those are the bad guys, right?"
Me: "Yep, those are the bad guys."
Hewitt loved watching the football game, but it was really funny when he left the bleachers, walked down, and stood for a good 10 minutes just staring at the cheerleaders. Isn't he a bit young to be fascinated with cheerleaders?:
Fletcher had a classic statement too when he yelled, "Mom! Look! The eye moved!":
The boys were totally enthralled with the game and were concentrating very hard. At one point in the game, one of our players was injured badly enough that he had to be taken by ambulance to the hospital. The boys were all contemplating ways of "paying back" that bad guy (ok, that was Indigo's term, not theirs).
Brett got so into the game she was biting her nails:
I love this shot of Hewitt watching a pass:
And Greyden took everything very seriously:
Indigo went to the bathroom at half time and came back and announced to me with wonder in her voice, "Mom! Cheerleaders have to go to the bathroom too!"
The girls had a very good time for the first half of the game. But by the second half, they were ready to go home:
Jim and I were so glad that we took them to the game. We had so much fun and the children really enjoyed cheering for the team. Here's a great video summing up some of their enthusiasm (and consternation with Mom videoing them):
The children keep asking when we can go to another game. They're wondering how they can get Colts' tickets for ten. :D

I think I won my husband over with my love of football. Still a love do... high school, college, pro. Hubby and our oldest now have online teams.
Football is a lot of fun - as long as it doesn't become an obsession! LOL
Friends of ours took their boys, ages 6, 8, and 13 to a University of Michigan game a few years back. The first question their kids asked after the games began was "Where is the yellow line?"
